A SOURCE tells Barbados Weekly that Principal Gloria Caines and staff at the St. Giles primary school are at an impasse. Staff and auxiliary workers blame it on poor management which they charge lies at the feet of the Principal.
After the last meeting on 8th. July, when the school term ended, a meeting was organised with the Principal to discuss ongoing issues affecting workers and the school in general.
A source reaching out to Barbados Weekly said, “the principal and staff are not seeing eye to eye and tempers are flaring. We are at an impasse”.
The source alleges, “It is poor management on the part of the principal and during the last meeting on July 8th matters remain unsettled and we are awaiting to see what will happen September 13th when teachers return to school a week ahead of students to.prepare for the new school term.
The source speaking from the source’s own perspective with limited knowledge opined stating that:
I know there will be hiccoughs because there are things that need to be addressed that have not been done. The school meals service is not receiving any hot water because the solar panel is damaged which is a major concern for the workers as it deals with food handling.
Another issue we face is poor management and the constant vandalisation of the school from persons in the district who throw garbage all over the school. This is a major concern for us the workers and the students.
The principal is not listening neither trying to find any solutions or putting things in place to fix the issue so we are voicing our concerns on this medium because we are frustrated and something needs to be done before the children return to school.
Barbados Weekly reminds readers that this is only one side of the story. As we gather more information we will update our readers. We invite any interested parties to fill in the gaps and correct any errors.
