About Us

Barbados Weekly (BW) gives you Your news, Your way.

We know that news is more than what’s coming from the top. It’s what you think, what you feel, what you know and what you want to discover.

That’s why our content is “on the ground”, personal and made just for you..

To give voice to the Public’s thoughts and emotions and create a platform for social progress.

Our Name

Instead of choosing some flashy or abstract name, we chose Barbados Weekly, because we believe that Barbados – just like any other country – can be home to a world-leading media brand dominating the conversation every week.

Our Coverage and Style

We’re a general-interest outlet with a conversational approach to communication.

We cover a wide range of interests from Entertainment through Public Policy to Global Affairs. Nothing for us is off-limits. Once something is socially-relevant we’ll talk about it, break it down and make it accessible to all.

While we have a conversational approach to communication we do believe in having good standards. That’s why we adopted a modified version of Caribbean Standard English as our preferred style for all forms verbal communication. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes video and audio communication.

Nevertheless, our Barbadian and Caribbean roots demand that we make way for our own Nation Languages and we do so with ease, flare and grace so from-to-time to time you will see and hear words such as broughtupsy, bruggadown and lime.

If you don’t know what those words mean in Nation Language just stick with us and you’ll learn.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We are committed to telling stories that last through the ages. From the start our coverage will be fair, honest, direct and partial only to the truth. We do not want fame or glory though they will surely come. We want a better world, filled with the promises that guide our hearts, minds, souls and Spirits.

Our Principles

Commitment

We commit ourselves to fairness, honesty, forthrightness and truth.

Challenges

We will challenge, explain, transact, translate and, generally, communicate for the Greatest Good.

Dedication

We will remember and live by the fact that we are here for the People; not ourselves.

Execution

We shall always rise to the occasion without fear or favour.
