Promoter of the show Peter Boyce, told Barbados Weekly during an interview, “Golden Soca will showcase the best of the best of Barbadian entertainment. The best of old music with the best of new music.”
An impressive lineup of talented Barbadian artists such as RPB, Edwin Yearwood, Mac Fingall, Lil Rick, Serenader, Lil Status, Biggie Irie, Grynner, Natalie, Timmy, Stalker, Bruce Almighty the Mauby man amongst others.
Boyce said, “Not only will Bruce Almighty perform his hit song Mauby but at Golden Soca ice cold mauby will be on sale. It is an entertainment experience of the best, music to take you back in time to those sweet days then back to present day music. We will also have hilarious comedy from Mac Fingall who recently announced his retirement and our resident MC and comedian Jennifer Walker.”
He emphasized, “This year the show will be followed by an after party. Our resident DJ Gerald B will be in attendance along with Admiral Nelson who will do an hour preshow Admiral Style and after the show. Also for the first time ever on the Golden Soca stage will be Indian and Chris Gayle who will take persons back in time playing the best of the best.”
He added, “We are especially grateful to our sponsors 100.7Q Fm, Carib Rehab, Mount Gay and Remy Martin and thanks to Remy Martin and Mount Gay we will have a fully stocked bar for persons.
When asked of challenges faced in putting the show together Boyce said, “After the two-year break due to covid it was announced we were going to be able to do something for Crop Over this year. The announcement was not as early as we would have liked, and factors such as the covid pandemic and the economy posed a further challenge, but we were able to rise above that challenge and create an impressive lineup for the show whilst making tickets affordable for persons without compromising on putting out a high-quality show.”
